Juzer Fatehi Appointed Director of New Division

SAN JOSE, CA--June 26, 1997--Fabless Semiconductor Association Suppliers Expo --Rubicad Corp. (San Jose, CA), a supplier of layout tools, announced today that it has established a Design Migration Service Division, and appointed Juzer Fatehi as its Director. In addition, the company announced it has achieved ISO 9001 certification for the company and its divisions.
This includes the company's software development and service divisions -Rubicad (San Jose, CA) and Rubicon (Germany).
Mr. Fatehi, Director of Rubicad's Design Services Division, reports to Michael Reinhardt, Rubicad's president and founder, and is based in San Jose, CA.

Rubicad's Migration Services Division offers customers with limited resources or time-to-market pressure the option of having their physical design intellectual property (IP), such as hard macros, libraries, cores, converted for use with new silicon technologies or fabs by Rubicad's staff.
 ISO 9001 certification offers Rubicad's customers an independent and objective assessment of the quality of Rubicad's software products. This certification recognizes superior quality at every product stage, from design and development to production, sales and related services. The ISO 9001 specifications define standards for the management of quality control processes. These specifications are comprehensive and internationally supported.

"We continue to invest in growing our company and extending our layout tools and services," said Michael Reinhardt, Rubicad's president and founder. "Offering migration services gives our customers another option for migrating legacy designs and intellectual property to new silicon technologies. Because of his previous experience with our products and with serving our customers, we appointed Juzer Fatehi to head this division."

Reinhardt added, "Shipping quality products is one of our main goals. As we prepared for certification, we increased our developers' productivity and improved our product quality. We attribute this partly to procedures we put in place in preparation for achieving ISO 9001 certification. As a result our maintenance efforts are less, and our developers have more time for developing new products."

Juzer Fatehi joined Rubicad in 1995, as an applications engineer. Prior to that he attended the University of Texas (Arlington, TX) where he earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. At Rubicad, Mr. Fatehi has been responsible for application supports for Rubicad's design migration environment, LACE.

Rubicad's products, LACE and LACEedit, are used for layout editing, design conversion, and design rule checking. The Design Migration Service Division offers services for design migration using Rubicad's Layout Conversion Environment, LACE, a customer's design and the target foundry's technology rules.
LACE automatically makes the layout adjustments for conversions to new technologies, including deep submicron (DSM) technologies.
